  • Easy. Don’t worry if blueberries aren’t in season, you can use frozen ones if you’re craving a drink any time of year.
  • Prep-friendly. Made up to several days in advance, this mojito is super party prep-friendly so you can pour a quick cocktail whenever you feel like it.
  • Fruity. Loaded with blueberries, lime juice, and even a bit of compote if you’re up for it, this mojito recipe is as fruity as it gets.

Ingredients for blueberry mojito.

What Do You Need For A Blueberry Mojito?

You only need a handful of ingredients for this refreshing summer cocktail, so check your fridge or freezer! Scroll down to the recipe card at the bottom of the post for full ingredient amounts.

  • Fresh blueberries – Frozen blueberries are okay too use if you thaw them first.
  • Simple syrup – Feel free to use raw honey or agave as well.
  • Fresh mint leaves – It’s not really a mojito without mint, but you can always leave it out.
  • Lime juice – Lemon juice will work in a pinch, but lime gives you the best zesty flavor.
  • White rum
  • Club soda – You can use sparkling water instead.

What Alcohol Goes In A Mojito?

White rum is the best kind for mojitos. It’s also referred to as “silver” or “blanco,” depending on the brand. Aged rum works too but it will give your cocktail a hint of smokiness.

Tips for Success

You’ll feel like a professional bartender with these easy tips that’ll take your mojito to the next level.

  • Strain it. If you’re not into bits of fruit skin, strain the puréed blueberries for a smooth cocktail.
  • Add food coloring. A drop of blue food coloring can make your blueberry mojito a beautiful electric blue.
  • Use berries. A frozen mix of your favorite berries is a great substitute for blueberries in this recipe.
  • Add compote. Pour 1-2 tablespoons of blueberry compote to each serving glass, add ice, and pour in the mojito for an extra fruity drink.
  • Make minty ice cubes. Chop up 2-4 mint leaves and add them to ice cube trays. Fill them with water. Freeze completely and use the ice cubes to add extra flair to your drink.

Serving Suggestions

This blueberry mojito is best for a laid-back cocktail night. You can serve it with other mojitos like my Pineapple Coconut Mojito for some boozy, fruity variety. For a light bite, pair it with some easy appetizers like my Pulled Pork Crescent Ring and BBQ Pulled Pork Sliders. Crispy Baked Potato Wedges are a great option too. If you’d like a particularly simple but flavorful snack, you can always do a trio of dips: Avocado Salsa, Restaurant Style Salsa and Authentic Guacamole with Tortilla Chips.

Can I Make A Pitcher of Mojitos?

Yes! Double or triple the recipe ingredients and prepare the mojito in the pitcher without ice or club soda. When it’s time to serve, add the club soda into the pitcher and stir gently. Pour it into ice-filled glasses.

Blueberry Mojito

This 5-minute blueberry mojito is packed with ice, lemon juice, and mint for an ultra refreshing summer cocktail!
Prep Time5 minutes
Total Time5 minutes

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup fresh blueberries
  • 2 oz simple syrup
  • 12 fresh mint leaves
  • 2 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 4 oz white rum
  • 8 oz club soda

Instructions

  • In a food processor or blender, puree blueberries until smooth. Set aside.
  • In a large highball glass (16 oz), muddle together the simple syrup and mint leaves. (Muddling is a technique used to gently mash herbs and/or fruit to release the essence or juices. I recommend using a muddler for best results, however the back of a wooden spoon can be used in a pinch.)
  • Divide the muddled simple syrup and mint leaves between two highball glasses. In each glass, stir in 2 oz rum, 1 oz lime juice and 2 to 3 tablespoons of the blueberry puree, to taste.
  • Fill glass with ice and then top with club soda. Garnish with mint and blueberries, if desired.

I made this last night…it was delicious! I used Bacardi blueberry rum but other than that, I followed your recipe and it turned out perfectly. The color was awesome too! Thanks for the great recipe.

Did you mix blue kool-aid for the picture? I just made the drink with pureed blueberries, and it looked nothing like the drink in your picture.

Ha! Nope, no Kool-Aid. Like I said above the recipe, you can add a drop of blue food coloring for a more potent blue color!

  8. Paula

these are really pretty and sound good. I am confused about the simple syrup, though. Don’t you use real sugar to make simple syrup? I am from GA, too

      Hi Paula,

Yep you do use sugar to make simple syrup! However, what he was saying is that instead of using simple syrup (where you melt the sugar into a syrup) – he uses regular granulated sugar in his!

  9. Julianne

Made this today for the kickoff of my vacation. My blueberries were not very juicy, so I doubled them. We have had very poor berries so far up here in Canada.

But I really loved the taste! So fresh and festive!

  10. Natalie

Why is the sugar divided? Is half for the drink and half for the rim of the glass? I’m going to make one right now so I’ll try one way, but would like to know the correct way. Thanks!

  11. dawn@joyfulscribblings

I added a few drops is blue food coloring just to make them pretty. :)

  13. Carolyn

Love the drink but mine turned a purple colour and is not clear blue like picture, love the taste but was hoping for the same look.

  14. Lynn

I just made these for my girlfriends and I and we loved them! I pureed them really fine and I had no issues like the commenter above me. Thanks for a great Friday cocktail recipe!!

  15. Willow (Will Cook For Friends)

I cannot get over how good these look! I’m not a huge drinker, but I love a good mojito. Blueberries can only make things better. I might just have to make these once the weather warms back up!

  16. Reba - Not So Perfect Life

Absolutely beautiful photography! I don’t love mojitos but my boyfriend does. I’ll file this under a drink to make for him!

  17. Katie @ Horrific Knits

It is an adorable drink! It would be so cute in those blue anniversary jars Ball has out right now.

  18. Gerry @ Foodness Gracious

These are awesome, I love mojitos, something about how refreshing and ultra easy they can be to drink!

  19. Becky

I am SO a Southern drink girl too and mojitos are my current obsession! Maybe it’s something to do with the explosion of fresh mint in my garden? My current fave is watermelon mojitos but I’ve never tried a blueberry combo…yet!

  20. Courtney @ BakeMeBetter

I’m so excited when I see a new post from you and I couldn’t be more excited today! Too bad I don’t have a stocked liquor cabinet or I’d make one right now. Oh, and I love that the bartender had on a bow tie! Bow ties are so classy!

  21. Laurie @ A Wiener Dog in the Kitchen

I adore Mojitos, and those are so stinkin gorgeous!! Bookmarking this one right now. I’ve never had a “flavored” Mojito… just the minty ones. Wow, the possibilities with different kinds of fruit are infinite!

  22. Beth @ The Collegiate Baker

I’ve never had a mojito before, but these are so pretty! I love all the greens and blues together. I’ll have to try one sometime!

  23. Joanne

Just yesterday I had the idea to make blueberry mojitos and here you are with these! It’s like you read my mind. :)

  24. Eileen

OH MY. This mojito must get in mu mouth ASAP! You know I’m going to be trawling the farmer’s market for the best blueberries this weekend. :)

  25. Diana @ Sweet y Salado

I’m definitely a mojito girl and make a similar one to this recipe, except I love how you pureed the blueberries because I don’t and they usually get stuck in the straw, same with strawberries. Also, when I was in college and didn’t have a muddler I used to use an ice cream scoop to mash them in the glass. =P

  26. Tieghan

Could these be any prettier or more refreshing looking!! I want to grab those blueberries off the screen!! These look so good! I am in awe!

    1. Annette Caddell Paul

Can I make this in a jug? I want to make it for a baby boy shower and i don’t want to make individual ones for 20 people. Any suggestions?
